Derbyshire County Council yesterday rejected an application for an incinerator in Chesterfield. After a long hard fight the Chesterfield Against Incineration group got the result they were looking for with a vote of 8 to 1 in favour of rejecting the proposal.
More details can be found here:
Reasons cited for the rejection were:
Unacceptable highways impact
Loss of protected trees
Adverse impact on the local economy
Perception of health risk
At least three out of these four grounds for refusal are also applicable to the Sky site. In addition, there are a raft of additional policy, legal, environmental, social and economic grounds on which we continue to base our objection to the Green Lane application. Let’s hope Salford Council are listening. Well done in Chesterfield.
